Segunda edición del Taller Formativo que permitirá conectar a desarrolladores de herramientas bioinformáticas con los Servicios de Bioinformática de los institutos del CSIC.
El evento tiene como objetivo la formación, por parte de los desarrolladores, de analistas ubicados en distintos servicios de bioinformática del CSIC, en la utilización de herramientas para su aplicación en los análisis que realizan para usuarios finales.
De esta manera, se pretende favorecer la transferencia del conocimiento BCB dentro del CSIC, capacitar a los servicios, y generar un mecanismo de retroalimentación entre desarrolladores, usuarios y servicios.
This 5 hours course is focused in the basics for genome assembly for non-model species, from a brief summary of the current sequencing technologies, assembly algorithms and quality control tools to assess the quality of the assembly. The participants will learn to perform genome assemblies for ONT and PB HiFi with tools such as Flye, Raven, and Hifiasm. Basic knowledge about Linux command line interface (CLI) is essential.

This crash course in metagenomic data analysis will cover the fundamental aspects of the standard metagenomics pipeline, from data processing and quality control to taxonomic profiling, functional annotation, and metagenome assembly. The course will be highly hands-on, using realistic examples (Illumina-based metaG sequencing data), comparing results from different methods, and addressing common challenges and limitations. Labs will cover tools such as mOTUs, kraken, eggnog-mapper, spades, megahit, prokka, prodigal, metabat. Basic knowledge of the Linux command line and scripting is required.
